This custom deck is located in Mendota Heights MN. This project goes to show that the right color scheme can really help produce the extension of the home effect. We used 5/4 composite decking on the deck with 2x6 boards for the stair treads, which helps with stability and gives it that big bulky look. With the 17" wrap around the support post extending up into the railing you get a constant feeling from this deck, big. This deck had great room for a large table, large grill and lay down chairs for sun bathing. With an oversized stair case and landing two people on the stairs was no problem. A custom made gate at the top kept the little ones safe.
