This project, located in downtown Minneapolis was unique in many ways. When building decks and planters five stories in the air, you have to be resourceful. From booming our materials and tools up by crane, to scheduling electricians, HVAC, and granite guys this was a project that took total collaboration from everybody in our company. We built a level deck and planters on a sloped rooftop. All material is IPE, which is a beautiful hardwood that requires sealing all six sides before installation. The design and position of planters was to maximize the precious space available on the roof. The deck was constructed with a wood frame with Ipe wrap and a travertine inlay. All Planters were capped with travertine, and lined with insulation for optimum planting conditions. The focal point of this deck in the sky was a outdoor kitchen featuring a Viking Stainless steel grill with a granite counter top that spilled over to built in bar area. This one proved there is no job we can’t handle.
Special thanks to Richard Woldorsky with Bachmans Landscape for an innovative design.
